Here are some prayer activities based on Ignatian’s Daily Examen. They are centering activities that help us be able to better notice what God is doing in, through, and around our bodies.

Wherever this season finds you today, breathe deeply. Lean into love. Extend grace. And trust that light is piercing the darkness. Emmanuel is entering into the world. Christmas is coming.

When we do not make room for dreaming, creating art and cherishing art, we risk becoming empty robots whose only task in life is to construct widgets. Even worse, we risk losing our humanity. We cannot live spiritually vibrant lives when we are disconnected from our humanity.

When Jesus wanted to teach us how to be more rooted in God's kingdom of love, justice, peace, and restoration, he usually used examples from everyday life. For instance, in Matthew 6, when teaching about how harmful it is to try and control our lives and the lives of others by seeking more power and more money, Jesus told his audience to "look at the birds of the sky" and "consider the lilies of the field." In other words, Jesus invited his audience to become who they were created to be: human image bearers of God.

This post is for all of us who are in seasons of spiritual dissonance. Know that you are not alone. There are ways to discover new rhythms that lead to deeper connections with God, self, and others.

Imagine being in a space where you are invited to bring your full self - your likes, dislikes, ideas, personality, passions, concerns, cultural identity, trauma, body type, ethnicity, orientation, fears, doubts, and more. How does your body feel just imagining being fully seen and radically accepted?

I could NOT have come up with the final design had I not made the initial mistake. It became a “happy little accident” that made the finished product SO MUCH better.

“We need to fan the flame of tenderness in one another. Once we are reached by tenderness, we become tenderness.”

All that you need is right here in front of you. You needn’t go searching all over the world for this treasure. It is buried beneath your feet.
